Brevard County Extension Outdoor Teaching and Demonstration Garden
The Outdoor Teaching and Demonstration Garden (OTDG) located at our Palm Bay Extension office will be used to teach gardening and horticulture to a variety of audiences including:
- Children and youth
- Master Gardeners
- Homeowners
- Professional Landscapers
- Municipal groundskeepers and outdoor workers
- Other Green Industry employees
Garden and horticulture education will emphasize Best Management Practices (BMP's), Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Florida Friendly Landscaping (FYN), and more.
The garden will be developed in phases as funds are available. The initial phase will include a butterfly garden. Future plans include demonstration areas for groundcovers, native plants, irrigation methods, and turfgrass. A gazebo is also planned to conduct outdoor classes.
